5th class Laurel took part in a "As I Am" online workshop. The workshop was part of As I Am’s broader initiatives for World Autism Month, which includes various events and resources aimed at fostering a greater understanding of the barriers that autistic people face every day. The session challenged the misconceptions, explored real-world solutions, and highlighted how to make our school environment more inclusive for all students. We learned that children communicate differently and that children who aren’t verbal, can communicate in other ways, such as through gestures, expressions, or assistive technology. This session highlighted how accessible coding can be for all children in expressing themselves.
