Representatives from the Digital School of Distinction team at Dublin West Education Centre visited our school on 18th October, accompanied by a Swedish delegation who are visiting Ireland to research the introduction of such a programme in Sweden. The National Digital Schools Award, supported by the Department of Education and Skills, promotes and recognises best practice ICT in primary schools throughout Ireland.
Our visitors were hosted by members of the ICT Committee, staff and parents, who led a hectic schedule, showing various elements of the work being done throughout the school.
As well as visiting the Library, various classes, ICT infrastructure facilities, and Administration the delegation also reviewed our school's ICT Policy/Plan, as well as the Internet Acceptable Use Policy (AUP). Both recently updated documents reflect the enormous work done by everyone in this area of school development, and I thank everyone involved for supporting this important and worthwhile ongoing programme.
