As a past pupil of St Patrick's NS, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to come in for a couple of days to speak to all classes from Junior Infants up to Sixth Class as a visiting scientist.
Having just earned my BSc in Forensic Science in Glasgow, I facilitated lively discussions with the children about what science is, including a bit about what I do as a forensic scientist, as well as why I became fascinated by science and what careers they might have in the future, culminating in a couple of finger-printing experiments.
The questions I received were plentiful and thought provoking, and I hope an interest was instilled to a great many of the students to become our future innovators of tomorrow. I certainly had a heap of fun and was thoroughly impressed by the depth of knowledge shown by so many.

Here's a link to one of the experiments I suggested, which you might like to try at home.
