Senior Infants Chestnut has had such a special term celebrating global citizenship across each area of the curriculum. It started with an interest in the school garden and grew from there, incorporating the student's interest to guide our teaching and learning. We used storytelling, discussion, debating and investigating past pupil trip to Uganda to influence what and how we learned, focusing on global citizenship throughout. We worked together to seed and plant our own crops, we listened and watched Fionn Moriarty discuss Uganda and how they supported children and families. The most valuable aspect was our team discussions where students had opportunities to present ideas, question and respond to aspects of importance to them. Our learning was presented in many different ways including reflective discussion, writing, drawing, art and action. Finishing off the theme with our school trip to the Happy Pear farm, where it was a delight to observe the students' interest, joy and enthusiasm for the outdoors and all its offerings, it was a privilege and pleasure.
