So far in 4th Class (Oak) we have had an action packed term. Below is a snapshot of our activities from September-Decemeber. Our learning has spanned many subjects including English, Science and Art and has incorporated plenty of active learning.
We have had some interesting visitors in our classroom, some of whom had more than two legs! We had a visit from some Madagascan hissing cockroaches and a grasshopper. The children had the opportunity to hold the cockroaches and even convinced Ms Mulligan to hold them too!
Gavin from Pedal Energy came to our school and taught us about energy consumption and how electricity is generated. We even had the opportunity to generate electricity using a bike to light the lightbulbs and blend a smoothie. This linked in nicely with our own science lessons on electricity where we investigated static electricity using balloons, sting and cheerios.
In English we read 'The Demon Dentist' by David Walliams. We created some amazing pieces of writing such as "Mummy's special toothpaste recipe" under the procedural writing genre and a letter of complaint to the Dental Association from the perspective of a chosen character. We also created some wonderful book covers.
Here is some of the work from our budding artists for Halloween and Christmas.
Diwali is the festival of lights and one of the most important festivals celebrated by Hindus all around the world. This year it was celebrated on 7th November. As part of our Diwali celebrations we wrote acrostic poems and created some beautiful Rangoli designs.
